MiNECRAFT TRiViA & iDEAS

This page is WIP. It was made in summer 2024 and left unfinished since then.

Texture Packs

Type I :: Beta 1.7.3 and below are fully compatible with any of the previous versions.
At first McPatcher was used to patch support for higher resolution packs into the game, then Optifine came along to replace it.

Type II :: Beta 1.8 up to Release 1.4 textures have some slight differences because of the separate chest model and extra detail on some animals, making them less compatible with the previous type.

Type III :: Starting from Release 1.5 all blocks/items are separated into their own files.
Texture packs are now called Resource packs and have more features, including support for 32x resolutions and above, animations, and more.

Type IV :: I don't know what is going on now since I haven't kept up for years, but the game can now straight up refuse to load slightly outdated packs :(

Chisel

My Minecraft Ideas

Chisel

Durability: 1024 (Gold)
A tool used to change appearances of blocks, made out of an golden ingot and a stick. Clicking a chiselable block (e.g. Stone) with the RMB opens a menu where the desired texture (e.g Stone Bricks) can be selected.
Once the selection is made, the chisel's angle is changed (the sprite is mirrored) and the chisel icon has the selected block overlayed on top of it with 50% opacity. Now, by hitting or holding the LMB while looking at the blocks of the same type (e.g Stone blocks) players can change their textures.
Left clicking any other blocks won't do anything, right clicking will pull up the menu if the block can be chiseled (e.g Cobblestone, Bricks, etc), otherwise the chisel is set into it's resting position (pointing in the same direction as other tools normally).
Inspired by the chisel mod. Well, it's basically just that.

Chiseling Table

Made by putting the chisel above a crafting table in the crafting menu.
Right clicking it pulls up the same menu but with several slots for stacks of blocks. After the desired texture is selected, the blocks can be transferred into the player's inventory. The chiseling table is similar to the stone cutter, though unlike it, gives players access to a wider variety of textures which otherwise do not show up in the world.

Wrench

The recipe mimicks the recipe for pickaxes, but without the top middle ingot and with ingots instead of sticks.
The wrench can change positions and angles of blocks.
When used on stairs:
LMB changes the direction, 8 in total (north, east, south, west and corner variations that connect them).
RMG changes the angle, 3 in total (normal, laying on the side, upside down).
Stairs can be placed normally by clicking on top of blocks or upside down by clicking on bottoms of blocks, but the side-positioning can only be achieved with the wrench. In addition, a single stair will never use the corner variation by itself, unless you set it this way with the wrench.
When used on slabs:
LMB swaps between bottom/top slab when used on horizontal slabs. Vertical slabs are moved between the north, east, south and west side of the block they're placed on.
RMB changes horizontal slabs to vertical slabs and vice versa.

Builder's delight, a tool that the game needs to have for sure.

Slope Carcass

A carcass made out of sticks by putting them into the crafting table in the shape of a stair.
The slope carcass, upon being placed, further needs to be right clicked with another block to take on it's texture. It cannot be destroyed without an axe but otherwise breaks down fast even with a wooden one. It drops both the block and the carcass upon being broken. A hoe is used to remove the block without breaking the carcass.
The wrench can be used to rotate the slope (4 or 8 directions, not sure) or turn it into a side/upside down one.

Tool Recipe Changes

Ever noticed how "Stone" tools are made out of cobblestone? My first proposal is to change cobblestone into stone in the recipe.
Now.. Ever noticed how wooden and stone tools require full blocks in the recipe while other tools make do with merely ingots or diamonds (1/9th of a block!) ? Yeah, I propose this.. change those recipies to require full blocks. Yes, durability (and efficiency) will have to be tweaked. But it will effectively give ALL tiers of tools uses in-game.

Tool Durability & Efficiency Changes

Currently, the durability is such (brackets have the number you get when you divide the durability by 3, the amount of core material used in the recipe):
Wood: 59 uses (19.666)
Stone: 131 uses (43.666)
Iron: 250 uses (83.333)
Gold: 32 uses (10.666)
Diamond: 1561 uses (520.333)
Here's what I propose, in addition to my previous idea. The formula for iron, diamond and gold will now use 9 in the division.
Wood: 48 uses (19.666) + maybe just very, very slightly increased efficiency
Stone: 192 uses (64)
Iron: 832 uses (92.444)
Gold: 64 uses (7.111)
Diamond: 4672 uses (519.111) + increased efficiency
Stone has increased durability to make up for the extra hassle. So does iron and diamond, with diamond also getting extra speed. So... What about gold? I'm not so sure... I don't see why it shouldn't have extra durability (even if it's not that much) but honestly.. I dunno. Realism is stupid but at the same time, gold being weak is a minecraft quirk that other games don't have (like punching sheep for wool and trees for logs). So let's keep it as is.

Furniture, Vertical Slabs

Mojang claims these inhibit creativity or something, which is wild, considering that building is basically the core mechanic of the game, without which it would have never taken off. They want it to be some kind of cartoony RPG with the ability to terraform for some reason. My suggestion here is that all (feasible) blocks have slabs (horizontal and vertical). Furniture would be crafted with a separate block called the "Modelling table".
The reasons for are:
1) Furniture would clutter the game with crafting recipies otherwise, and the 3x3 crafting window is too limiting.
2) To follow up on 1, with a modelling block will allow players use 2 materials at once (a stone table having iron or cobblestone legs, etc)
The furniture is as follows:
A Chair (Legs/Back, Seat)
A Short Table (Legs, Top)
A Tall Table (Legs, Top)
A Cabinet (Itself, Door, Handle)
A Double Drawer aka Bed Side Drawer (Itself, Top, Drawer Front, Handle)
Blinds (Top part holding the rest together, Blinds themselves, String)
Curtains (Top part holding them together, Curtains themselves)
Trench Thing (Two planks, any 2 materials can be used)
Bird Bath (Container itself, Pillar, bottom part)

BLOCKS

Obsidian - breaks about 25-50% faster. is unbreakable without a diamond pick (maybe?)
Crying Obsidian - Hardened obsidian. Normal obsidian in the portal frame is automatically converted to crying obsidian after a few in-game days (has 3 textures, each representing a conversion stage. SLOW mining speed (slower than original obsidian). is unbreakable without a diamond pick (maybe?)
Cobwebs - slow the player down only by 50 or 25%
Soulsand Bricks - ?
Netherrack - mined with golden tools+
Soul sand - mined with golden tools+
Magmastone(?) - Hard stone beneath and above netherrack. Mined with golden tools+.
Golden Magmastone - same as golden ore but in magma. rare but comes in large veins

ARMOR

Obsidian Armor (?) - Low durability, Fire & Hit Protection?
Golden Armor - Fire protection
Rampage Suit - Grey suit from Jetz Rampage 4. Slightly faster movement, increased block reach and breaking speed, long lasting jetpack.
Hunter Suit - red suit from infection. Slower movement, stronger attacks, weak jetpack.
Fusion Suit - blue suit from Jetz Fusion. Faster movement, swimming, medium jetpack. Very little protection.

SEASONS

Summer - shorter nights, brighter saturated foliage
Autumn - yellow/orange/red foliage
Winter - longer nights, toned down, blueish foliage. Spiders spawn rarely. Frozen Zombies spawn instead of normal ones.
Spring - normal foliage color. Spiders do not spawn.

Foliage color changes can be turned off or made permanent in the settings. Alpha foliage is also available.
Fixed season worlds or Classic worlds are also available.

MOBS

Frozen Zombie - slower but hits harder. Blue skin and winter clothes?
Spider Baron - indev texture giant spider, spawns in rare spider dungeons that have cobwebs

MECHANICS

Enchanting - does not require bookshelves. The table has 1 slot in the center with a book in it. You take it out and read it, learning what materials correspond to what enchantments. Then, you put your tool/weapon into the slot instead and more slots appear around it. If you fill them with certain materials, you get an enchantment.
5 (pengram) - 8 octagram - 12 (decagram?)
Enchantments alter the stick

Food - press RMB to eat. A sound is played once and some particles appear. Food has durability - 1 per heart.
