MiNECRAFT TEXTUREPACKS

This is a listing of the best minecraft texturepacks. It seems like nowadays people don't really use these all that much. Most popular downloads now include various vanilla-altering resourcepacks with specific features like 3d ladders.

1. Traditional Beauty (64x)

My all-time favorite. It takes vanilla textures and adds depth to them, making them look very pretty and crispy. Unfortunately, the author seems to have deleted the curseforge page for this pack. However, I have archives for the 1.2.5, 1.7.10 and 1.12 versions of the pack. The 1.2.5 version obviously works on anything as early as 1.8.1 beta, and even earlier versions if you're willing to tinker with a few of the textures a bit. Nowadays, I found that some shaders have a sort of a bump map lightning effect that reminds me of this pack. HIGHLY recommended, but it can get a bit jarring, especially because of the way items look.

2. Sphax PureBDCraft (16x-512x)

The best cartoon-styled pack ever. There are new variants of it nowadays, such as Vanilla BDCraft, Grunge BDCraft and etc. I really like how it looks, it has great unique elements like the villagers with their glowing eyes, etc. Nothing beats it. Though I spent most of my time on 1.2.5 with TB, I began to use this pack more often afterwards. Highly recommended...

3. Misa's Realistic (64x)

The best realistic pack. It looks so good and gritty. There's only one caveat, it heavily relies on various optifine features, without which it will look a bit broken. Nowadays, other mods are usually used in it's place so it's a bit of a pity. Nevertheless, I used it on 1.21 with these other optimisation mods and apart from a few broken mob textures (and broken rain puddles) it was totally fine. Good pack, highly recommended, way better than other realistic packs.

4. Summerfields (32x) and Jolicraft (16x)

These two are paired together because they share a similar atmosphere. Bright, sunny and very relaxing. Personally, I've always used the former, but only because I somehow missed out on the latter. Great packs.

5. Steelfeathers Enchanted (32x)

Probably not the best, but it's pretty comfy. Sort of RPG-styled and dark.

6. LB Photo Realism (64x-128x)

The second best realistic pack. Inferior to Misa IMO, Misa is much more stylized, but still good.

7. R3D Craft (32x-512x)

Default textures with corresponding IRL textures of materials applied to each block. I didn't care for this one much, but it's worth a mention.

8. Faithful (32x)

Default textures, doubled in resolution. Honestly, I think it doesn't look very good, but I did play with it occasionally. Very iconic nevertheless.

6. oCd Disco (16x)

It's alright, very iconic. I think it's one of the few packs that should never be played without saturating the foliage/grass colormaps first. It just makes sense, no?
